Joshua Liendo-Edwards

Swimming | 2 x Olympian, World Champion, 4 x NCAA Champion, 100M Butterfly World Record Holder

Joshua Liendo-Edwards' journey to the Olympic podium began at Pure Skills Athletics at the age of nine years old. Under the mentorship of Coach Ish, Joshua developed the fundamental discipline and high-performance mindset that fuelled his rise to the Canadian National Team and the University of Florida.

Today, Joshua remains a vital part of the Pure Skills family, returning to share his experiences and mentor the next generation of athletes pursuing their own excellence.

Olympic Silver Medalist: Men's 100M Butterfly (Paris 2024) - New Canadian Record
NCAA Dominance: 4 x NCAA Champion with the Florida Gators
World Record Holder: defined new world record in 100M Butterfly in 2025
History Maker: First Black Canadian swimmer to win Gold at a major international competition

Mary Rioflorido

Volleyball | OUA All-Star & TMU Most Valuable Player

Mary Rioflorido's journey with Pure Skills Athletics began at a young age where she approached every session with each Ish with a trademark intensity and focus. That dedication led her to a standout varsity career, beginning at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), where she was named Female Rookie of the Year, and concluding at the University of Saskatchewan.

A leader on and off the court, Mary graduated with a degree in psychology while earning multiple defensive accolades. She remain a vital part of our community, returning to the gym to share her expertise and inspire the next generation of Pure Skills athletes.

Career Milestones:

Elite Defender: 2nd All-Time in Career Digs for TMU (966 digs)
Conference Standout: 2 x OUA All-star & OUA All-Rookie Team
Provincial Leader: Ranked 1st in the OUA for Single Season Digs (2022 & 2024)
Team MVP: Named TMU Female Rookie of the Year (2021) and Most Valuable Player (2024-2025)
